FULL CIRCLE FOR “THE BLUE SPEEDSTER” #78

Photo and Story Cred: Dan McKay
This 1978 Auburn Speedster, “The Blue Speedster”,  is #78 and was built originally for Mark Trimble, Glenn Prays best friend from Branson MO.  We have included several pictures of the car in progress. Glenn and Mark are pictured at the first.
Felix Degeyter and Dan McKay built the car back from a wreck during the last nine months.

Dan had owned a Cord previously, but never an Auburn. Felix learned this one was for sale and I jumped on it.
Felix graciously helped Dan work on the car and let him use his shop, lift and paint booth. Dan performed all the body work and their friend Troy Eliot blasted the paint on the car. Felix helped a lot with odds and ends and polished much of the chrome as well as supplying some parts that were needed. Doug Pray, President of the ACD Company, also helped with some parts and reminded us of some details on how these beautiful cars were built back in the day.  Back in the day, Dan, Felix and Doug worked at the ACD Factory when some of these cars were built! As Dan restored #78, he upgraded various parts on the car as it went back together and was able to save all the body parts damaged in the collision.

Dan and Felix really pushed themselves the last week getting the car completed in time for the Auburn Festival Labor Day Weekend. They completed the car Tuesday night before the Festival in time to load up and leave Wednesday Morning.
We hope you enjoy the pictures!
